What’s the role?

This role is responsible for advancing and transforming the current ways of working within Shell Lubricants Supply Chain (LSC) Logistics to embrace digitalization and support data-driven decision making for integrated value delivery. This role will be key in working with the Penske (4PL) implementation team to ensure current and future requirements will meet the business needs and ensure stability during the transition.

The Senior Commercial Analyst will be responsible ownership and management of logistics cost and accrual management. This is ownership includes working with Contract Holders, Sales, and various other teams to ensure cost accuracy, transparency, and proper tariff management. Costs should be passed to the business in a timely manner via accurate tariffs for each lane primary, secondary, storage & handling, export and inbound freight. Proper tariff management ensures accurate profitability and deal structuring. The Senior Commercial Analyst will be responsible for planning and conducting the Governance Forum (LSC and Sales Leadership) to communicate any changes to the business in addition to working with Finance on Over/Under recovery reporting. This role will also include operational excellence element and will need to look for opportunities to reduce costs in the system.

Additionally, the Senior Commercial Analyst will spearhead the financial Quarterly LE process and annual planning processes w/ Finance organization. They will need to work with Contract Holders and Leadership to plan and forecast based on all the commercial and network activity for the LSC organization.

Finally, the Senior Commercial Analyst will additionally oversee all import and export commercial and contract management. This includes working with rail vendors and export 3P vendors. They will own and manage 3PL service contracts for Export Warehousing, Rail and Export Transportation while delivering full value for these contracts.

The Senior Commercial Analyst needs to have a strong analytical and commercial mindset with a robust focus on our customers. The position is an individual contributor role, but will have direct support from commercial analysts on 3P Contracts team.

Accountabilities:


Identify and work directly with 3P Contracts Leadership Team to identify and support financial and performance opportunities.
End to End transportation and warehouse tariff management owner.
End to End transportation and warehouse cost accrual management owner.
Spearhead financial Quarterly LE and annual planning processes w/ Finance organization.
Support Reporting and Performance Management across 3P Contracts Team.
Holds 3PL transportation and warehousing contracts (Import/Export) and ensures that service providers perform as per contractual agreement through recurring business reviews covering HSSE/spend/performance, etc.
Works closely with Contracting & Procurement on strategic negotiation and analysis of the various markets in order to negotiate and obtain competitive rates for logistics services (rail and warehouse).
Supports C&P and Operations teams with the development and implementation of Contract Management Plans (Import/Export).
Develops and maintains routing guides for sea and airfreight carriers.
Operationally coordinates airfreights from the Americas to other regions and ensures correct cross-charging.
Work with Penske, Agile Hub, IT, etc to develop automation to improve and enhance processes.

Requirements:

What we need from you


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of work experience in Performance Management, Finance, and Supply Chain experience is valued.
Strong ability to navigate and understand GSAP is required.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills (ability to turn numbers into useful information and relevant business recommendations).
Demonstrated commitment to learning and improving own personal leadership and effectiveness, and a passion and competency in coaching and mentoring.
Must be able to build effective business relationships with 3P Contracts Team, LSC, Finance, Sales, C&P, our Shared Service Centers, and other stakeholders.
