Description
The STARS Improvement Analyst develops, implements, and manages oversight of the company's Texas Medicare/Medicaid Stars Program. Directs all Stars quality improvement programs and initiatives. The STARS Improvement Analyst work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities
The STARS Improvement Analyst develops programs designed to increase the plan quality. Partners with leaders regarding implementation planning. Reviews and communicates results of programs. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.
Tracks program trends and present analytical insights and feedback to management via Power BI dashboards, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations
Collects, monitors and analyzes data
Identifies PCP group needs and challenges (e.g. gaps in care); establishes goals and objectives; provides insights to help develop strategies to meet goals within timelines
Supports program and initiatives set to help support market growth by developing reporting with key metrics and insights
Creates and maintains reporting tools to simplify data needs and enhance analytical findings; advances quality outcomes
Customizes program strategies and deliverables for specific PCP groups focused on quality metrics and other key performance indicators
Participates in monthly leadership meetings to review goals, provide suggestions and develop strategies
Organizes and cleans up data via Excel and SQL to ensure uniformity, accuracy and minimal redundancy/duplicates
Prepares ad-hoc queries and create query scripts for data extraction as needed

Required Qualifications:
3 years experience in an analytical role preferably in the Healthcare Industry
Proficient in Excel (v-lookup, pivot tables, complex IF statements, conditional formatting, etc.)
Experience in completing efficient analysis of data with associated conclusions and recommendations for improvement
Experience with data mining and validation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a simplified easy to understand manner - ability to create content for all levels of the organization
Knowledge of all MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Self-starter with a high level of accountability, organization, time-management skills and a strong desire to excel in a fast-paced, highly-demanding environment
Team player with ability to work cross functionally to achieve results
Aptitude to learn quickly
Working knowledge of provider and member data to identify contract, group, provider or member geographic performance shortfalls / opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Advanced skills in Power BI and SQL
Experience with Microsoft Access or equivalent database software
Experience with VBA macro building
Familiarity with SAS, Qlikview, or Tableau
Experience with quality of care concepts such as HEDIS, CMS Star Ratings
Experience with healthcare claims data
Comfortable with presenting in front of leadership
Experience with a work from home environment
Additional Information
Work at Home/Remote Requirements Must ensure designated work area is free from distractions during work hours and virtual meetings. Must provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a workspace (Satellite and Hotspots are prohibited). A minimum standard speed of 10x1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) for optimal performance is required
